The name of the terrorist organization we are talking about is Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP). This organization has recently released an audio. In this audio message, Sheikh Abdullah Akhunzada, a prominent leader of Tehreek-e-Taliban, is talking about capturing Pakistan and Turkey soon apart from Afghanistan and establishing Taliban rule in these places. Further, Abdullah Akhunzada is saying that Pakistan is a Muslim country, but the constitution here is according to British law. They want to capture it and implement Sharia law here.
What is this Tehreek-e-Taliban
Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) is the biggest terrorist organization fighting against its own government in Pakistan. According to the United Nations, several thousand TTP fighters are present along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, waging a ‘war’ against the government of Pakistan. Pakistani military action, US drone warfare and incursions by other groups in the region had nearly put an end to TTP terror from 2014 to 2018 but, after the signing of a peace deal by the Afghan Taliban and the US government in February 2020. The extremist group again became active in this area.
TTP strengthened after the merger of three organizations
Since July 2020, 10 extremist groups that were continuously opposing the Government of Pakistan joined Tehreek-e-Taliban. These include the three Pakistani factions of Al-Qaeda, which split from the TTP in 2014. After these mergers, TTP became stronger and more violent. This violent series intensified after the formation of the Afghan Taliban government in Kabul in August 2021. Its deep historical roots with the Afghan Taliban, al-Qaeda and the Islamic State in Khorasan Province (ISKP) have made TTP a dangerous terrorist organization. The group is the result of the ‘Jihadi politics’ of Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan after 9/11.
